November reminds us to bring our individuality into community to be celebrated

"Enough" Is a Moving Target

November feels like a month of deciding what is true for you, particularly as the end of the year begins creeping closer, and the pressure to accomplish, spend, celebrate, socialize, improve, and somehow tie every loose end into a perfect little bow starts getting louder.

There is a lot of potential in this month, but November does not seem interested in pushing us toward some idealized version of ourselves. Instead, it asks whether we can become more grounded in our actual values, our real needs, and the life we are living right now.

The overall energy is represented by the Four of Pentacles, but this is not the usual image of

Tarot card of a seated woman holding pentacle tokens in a wood room; text reads four of pentacles.

someone clutching tightly to what they have. In my Cozy Witch Tarot, this card carries a much warmer message, which made me think about the difference between being grounded and being rigid.

Where can you stand firmly in what is meaningful, true, and valuable to you, while releasing some of the tension around what everyone else thinks your life should look like?

As RuPaul famously says, what other people think of you is none of your business. November may be asking us to take that wisdom a little more seriously.

There is no single correct way to be successful, fulfilled, spiritual, productive, abundant, or happy. The more we loosen our grip on those assumptions, the easier it may become to recognize what actually feels like enough.

What November Is Asking Us to Prioritize

Five of Swords

Not everything deserves your energy.

November asks us to prioritize discernment, particularly when it comes to knowing when to stop investing energy in something that repeatedly pulls us away from our happiness, well-being, or greater purpose.

The Five of Swords does not necessarily mean dramatic conflict or cutting everyone out of your life. Sometimes walking away is much less theatrical than that; it is simply deciding that a habit, argument, expectation, relationship, or responsibility no longer deserves unlimited access to your energy.

We often become so focused on whether we can make something work that we forget to ask whether we still want to.

This month, notice where you are fighting simply because you have already invested so much. There is wisdom in persistence, but there is also wisdom in recognizing when your energy could be better used elsewhere.

What Needs to Be Put Down Before the Year Ends

The Sun

Don't carry what repeatedly blocks the sunshine from your life.

The Sun appearing in this position is interesting because it suggests that what we need to release may be anything that consistently obscures our ability to experience joy.

That does not mean life should always feel like sunshine and rainbows; nobody is asking you to become aggressively cheerful while your life is on fire. But there is a difference between moving through a difficult period and remaining attached to circumstances that repeatedly pull you away from the beauty of the present moment.

If something continually dampens your spirit, distracts you from what is good, or makes it difficult to experience the simple reward of being alive, November asks whether you really want to carry it into another year.

What Is Beginning to Open Up

The Emperor

Tarot card of a woman in orange sweater and flower crown sitting on steps with a compass; text reads 4 - the emperor and a quote.

Realizing how capable you are can be exciting—and a little triggering.

What begins opening in November is possibility, but the Emperor reminds us that possibility comes with responsibility.

There may be moments this month when you realize that you are capable of far more than you previously believed. For some people, that will feel exciting; for others, it may feel overwhelming, because recognizing your own power also means recognizing that you have some responsibility for what you do with it.

The Emperor in this deck holds a compass, which feels especially fitting. You are becoming more capable of directing your own life, but a compass does not walk the path for you.

Potential is opening up, and with it comes the realization that your experiences, choices, and direction are shaped in part by how willing you are to take ownership of where you are going.

Emotional Wellbeing

Queen of Pentacles

Emotionally, November asks us to explore worthiness and enoughness.

The Queen of Pentacles reminds us that comfort, fulfillment, and the feeling of accomplishment do not need to be earned through exhaustion. You are allowed to feel successful because you made a good meal, got out of bed on time, took your fur babies for a proper walk, completed one important task, or simply handled a difficult day better than you might have in the past.

We tend to create ideal versions of ourselves through our goal lists, bucket lists, and yearly plans, and then use those ideals as evidence that we are falling short. But ideals are not people.

Life is imperfect, and so are we. Personally, I have yet to meet a perfect person in any of my travels😂

You can still be wonderful, capable, interesting, exciting, and worthy without completing everything you thought you would accomplish this year.

Work & Purpose

Ten of Wands

End-of-year motivation is only useful until it's ...not!

November carries growing Sagittarius energy, and with it may come the desire to do more, become more, and squeeze everything possible out of the final weeks of the year.

That motivation can be useful, but it can also become disproportionate very quickly.

If your internal dialogue suddenly becomes, “There are only November and December left, so I have to finish everything now,” please notice what that does to your nervous system.

The Ten of Wands asks a very practical question: why make things more difficult than they need to be?

There is productive motivation, and then there is the kind of motivation that turns into burnout because nothing is moving quickly enough. Let ambition inspire you without allowing it to become another burden you have to carry.

Money, Resources & Enoughness

The Moon

Enoughness is largely a matter of perspective.

The Moon itself is a perfect example. When I lived in Texas, it seemed enormous in the sky; now that I live outside the city in Farnham, what strikes me is how clear it can appear without so much light pollution. The Moon has not fundamentally changed, but my experience of it has.

Enoughness works similarly.

The holiday season can create enormous pressure to buy more, save more, earn more, accomplish more, and somehow do all of it at once. November asks us to stop measuring our enoughness against an influencer, a neighbour, a sibling, or anyone else whose circumstances are not our own.

What is enough for you? That answer may change over time, and that is perfectly fine.

Relationships, Home & Belonging

Nine of Pentacles

Belonging shouldn't require performance.

As the holidays approach, some people begin to feel as though they need to present a yearly highlight reel to everyone they have not seen in months.

Here comes Aunt Beth asking what you have accomplished since last Christmas. 😂

The Nine of Pentacles reminds us to bring our individuality into community rather than abandoning it to belong.

Surround yourself with people who are interested in who you actually are, what you genuinely care about, and how you move through life. If someone thinks being a tarot reader is strange, I probably do not need to convince them otherwise; I would rather spend time with the person who says, “That is interesting, tell me more,” or better yet "Can I have a reading? 🤓"

And of course, reciprocity matters. We should offer other people that same freedom to be themselves around us.

What to Watch Out For

The Star

Be inspired by the ideal, but don't let it become punitive.

The Star is usually a beautiful card, and it remains beautiful here, but November asks us to watch the distance between inspiration and idealization. From far enough away, almost anything can look perfect.

An influencer’s life, another person’s relationship, someone else’s career, even someone’s appearance can take on a polished quality when we only see it from a distance. The closer we get, the more humanity appears; struggles, quirks, inconsistencies, and ordinary imperfections become visible.

Do not allow someone else’s highlight reel to obscure your own light. The ideal can inspire you, but it should not become a yardstick you hit yourself over the head with!

The Good News

Ace of Wands

The good news is that there is still plenty of potential left.

The year is not over. You are not out of opportunities. You have not missed every chance because January did not unfold exactly as planned.

One good opportunity can change the direction of a relationship, career, financial situation, spiritual path, or emotional journey. There is still room for something exciting to begin.

I want all members of the Cups family and all people in the Cups Family orbit to know you are one incredible opportunity away from something amazing happening. Keep your eyes open this November for small miracles, or maybe even big ones!

Best Advice for November

Page of Swords

"Curiosity is a kind of magic."

Tarot Page of Swords: a blue-purple-haired girl touches a floating book house on a mountain; text says curiosity is a type of magic.

What happens if you become curious about your blind spots instead of defensive about them?

What happens if you ask what enough means to you rather than assuming you already know? What changes when you become curious about who genuinely supports you, what motivates you, or why a particular pattern keeps showing up?

Curiosity creates space for perspective to shift.

You do not have to wake up every morning assuming today will be the same nonsense in a different outfit. When we loosen our certainty about what is possible, something in our energy changes too.

November’s best advice is simple: stay curious.

Your November Invitation

November asks us to stand firmly in what is true for us without becoming rigid about how life is supposed to look. Walk away from what repeatedly drains your joy. Let potential excite you without turning it into another impossible standard. Allow yourself to feel successful before every box is checked, and decide what enough means based on your own life rather than somebody else’s.

There is still time left in the year, but you do not have to race toward December. You are allowed to enjoy what you have built, change what no longer fits, explore what might come next, and remain curious about the parts you have not figured out yet.

I feel November isn't asking you to become more but to recognize how much is already here.
